Sickle Cell Anemia

The Sickle Cell Screening Camp started from 26th June to 4th July 2015. Total 2, 899 individuals’ bloods were screened. The screening camp covered the Tharu people of Gangaparspur VDC, Dang. The screening camp made aware about the Sickle Cell Anemia to the Tharu people of this area. More than 20 community health volunteers, 2 doctors, 5 lab technicians, 12 medical students from Vancouver and other support person worked very hard to make this happen. There was an active participant from the local people for the screening. There were very happy. The screening camp/test became justifiable through the establishing a lab in the local health post so that the local people can do the test regularly. This camp has enhanced the health condition of the people. The main focus was sickle cell Anemia, though having a lab means; the local people can do other lab test in their hometown.
